Happy New Year!

It would appear that we all survived the election AND the end of the world in 2012!

Our New Year started off fairly quiet, but not without a few bumps in the road. Literally! A lady caused an accident on southbound 29 and my husband was the unlucky recipient of her stupidity! We are blessed he was not seriously injured, but his truck will have to spend some time at the body shop! And as an added bonus, my husband just called me to say that the ladies insurance just called him to tell him that her insurance was canceled on December 17! Hooray!

I spent New Year's Day knitting a hat out of one strand of my own hand spun Blue Faced Leicester and one strand of alpaca. What do you think?

I started spinning about a year and a half ago and I have spun a lot of single balls of yarn, but this is the first time I actually used any of it. I actually ended up with three good size 200+ yard balls of my Blue Faced Leicester, so I have several other projects planned for the remaining two balls. I have been a fairly consistent spinner since I first began but I have to say, I probably got more satisfaction out of knitting this hat than anything I have ever knitted. This is now the softest hat I own, and every time I put it on my head, I marvel at the fact that I know exactly where my yarn came from!
